How to do a Healthy Detox

Healthy Detox

Detoxification, known for short as detox, is the  physiological or medicinal removal of toxic substances from a living organism (Wikipedia).  There are many other definitions of detox, as well as many methods.  It can be a way to remove poisons from the body and also any means of removing toxic buildup in our bodies.

As we have touched on in previous posts, there are many ways our bodies are exposed to toxins on a daily basis.  Our bodies need a time to recover and remove such toxins, and work toward returning to balance, homeostasis.

This post will focus on a few ways to naturally detoxify.  We will highlight a few products and essential oils that can be used as a gentle, natural cleanse.

The Detoxification Complex is a combination of whole food extracts that  provide support for the body’s cleansing organs, the liver, kidneys, bowels, and skin.  The formula is  coupled with essential oils for additional support for the liver.  You may take this on a daily basis or as a periodic cleanse for 2 weeks every three months.

Lemon essential oil is great for a daily gentle cleanse.  Add it to your water every day to achieve best results.  I have added a great recipe below.

Try this daily cleanse for  increased energy, emotional stability, and pain. Blend 1 tablespoon of organic Lemon juice,  1 drop each of Lemon and Peppermint essential oils and  2-4 ounces of purified water.   Use daily, drink first thing in the morning.  You can use this indefinitely.  I drink it throughout the day, but especially in the morning and at night.

Dr. David Hill suggests the Metabolic Blend to help the body eliminate adipose cells the body has formed to encapsulate dangerous toxins in the body. The blend is available as an oil or a soft gel cap.  The dosage translates for both the oil and the gelcap.  Use 1-2 drops per 8 ounces of water,  2 to 4 glasses per day;  time period: indefinite. I use this method on a daily basis – I am borderline diabetic and the blend helps me level my blood sugar throughout the day and keeps me feeling less hungry.

Another very relaxing technique is to take a weekly detox bath.

Epsom salts and apple cider vinegar are well-known for the detoxification properties.  Lavender, Geranium and Lemongrass are the best oils to use in addition for an aromatherapy, detoxifying bath time.

This is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to doing a detox.  You may choose to do it daily or weekly, or even monthly.  It’s important that we do take some time to cleanse our systems and restore balance to our bodies.  Choose what is best for you.
